VILS

VILS / STEM Lab

In VILS class we're diving into the amazing world of technology and digital design! We’re going to explore lots of cool stuff, like electric circuits and robots. Ever wondered about virtual reality? You'll get to try it out and even create your own virtual worlds! And get ready to unleash your creativity because we're going to learn how to make cool things on the computer and print them out using 3D printers.

Technology

Encompasses multiple forms of technology including: Design and Modeling - Students work with a 3D printer and the website TinkerCAD; Automation and Robotics - Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms. We might also dip into some Lego Robotics; Flight and Space - Students become engineers as they design, prototype, and test models to learn about the science of flight and what it takes to travel and live in space. They solve real-world aviation and space challenges and plan a mission to Mars; Students will also get to learn and practice coding.

Be a part of the team that creates the Marshall yearbook. We will use cameras and learn photography, focus on layout and page design. A special emphasis will be on staying organized, teamwork, critiquing, and meeting authentic deadlines. Being a member of our team is a huge responsibility; by the end of the year, you will have produced a piece of history valued by students, staff, and the community.

Financial Lit

Financial literacy class is fun, simple, and easy to understand. It teaches kids important money skills like how to save, budget, and spend wisely by using real-life examples they can relate to—like earning allowance, saving for a new game or toy, or planning a fun day out with friends. Lessons include games, stories, and activities that show how to make smart money choices, avoid debt, and even start saving for bigger goals in the future. The main idea is to help kids feel confident and excited about managing money in everyday life!

In this fun and creative class, students will learn the basics of beauty and self-care! They will explore simple skills like hair styling, skincare, and nail art. Lessons will include how to braid hair, wash faces properly, and paint nails with cool designs. Students will also learn about staying safe and clean when using beauty products. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to feel confident and express themselves through beauty!

Sport science is a class where you will find out answers to things sports related though reading, math, and science! Like how the best athletes train to be where they are now, look at statistics and highlights to see who is actually the goat, Lebron or Michael Jordan, and more!

In this class you will read about real history mixed with made-up stories. When reading historical fiction books, the characters and events in the story may be based on real people or historical events. Even though some parts of the story are created by the author, you will still get to learn about the time period the books are set in, and important things that were happening in the world.

We will look at other sources for information that may include: podcasts, documentaries, and media. We will analyze, reflect, write, and discuss.
